Founding Engineer
EngineeringRemote (US)full-timeSalary + meaningful equity$140k–$180k + equity
About the role
You'll be the first engineering hire after the founder. You'll work end-to-end on the Verdaxi platform — frontend, backend, data, infrastructure — and you'll have a direct, durable hand in the architectural decisions that compound for years.
This is not a role for someone who wants to be handed a ticket queue. The compliance product is live; the rest of the platform is on the roadmap. We need someone who can take a feature from "operator told us this hurts" to "shipped, audited, monitored" without a lot of intermediate process.
Tech stack
- Nuxt 4 + Vue 3 + TypeScript
@nuxt/uiv4 (Tailwind v4)- PostgreSQL via Drizzle ORM
- BetterAuth for auth
- Cloudflare R2 / AWS S3 for files
- Resend for email
- Deployed to Cloudflare or AWS, opinions welcome
What you'll do
- Build new compliance features end-to-end — schema, server routes, UI, tests, docs
- Help shape the architecture of upcoming modules (operations, business operations, regulators)
- Set engineering practices that scale beyond the two of us
- Carry pager rotation (light, but real — we run production for paying customers)
- Shape hiring as we add more engineers
What we're looking for
- 5+ years building production web applications, ideally with a strong full-stack bias
- Real experience in TypeScript, Vue or React, and a relational database
- Demonstrated ability to make architectural decisions and explain why
- Bias toward shipping, with the discipline to not ship the wrong thing
- Experience in a regulated/compliance-mattered domain (healthcare, finance, life sciences, cannabis) is a major plus
- Comfort working without a layer of product/design between you and the customer
What we offer
- Competitive salary plus meaningful founding-engineer equity
- Bootstrapped — the equity is in something that has to actually work, with no clock pressure to vaporize it
- Health, dental, vision (full-time)
- Flexible PTO, US-based, remote-first with periodic in-person team weeks
- Real influence on what we build, how we build, and who we hire next
